Words + Wine

Words + Wine
I'm Rachel, a wine writer and marketing consultant intent on telling the stories of wine — bringing winemaking to life and enhancing your enjoyment of this lovely liquid, however that looks for you.

My experience spans copywriting, editing, brand management, social media, events, tasting and training sessions, content creation (digital and print), e-commerce and hospitality.

I became fascinated by wine as drinks editor of British Esquire, where I was nominated as ‘Best Consumer Writer’ at the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards. Having worked in publishing since 2009, my writing has also appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler, The Spectator and The World’s Best Vineyards, with a portfolio including features, interviews, reviews and round-ups across food, restaurants, the arts and entertainment.
After embarking on my WSET exams, I became a sommelier at Noble Rot in Bloomsbury, learning how to talk about every sort of wine to every sort of person — from experts to novices, trade professionals to tourists, old, young, curious or confident. And, of course, there were some rather fun bottles to try along the way…
I recently spent two years marketing an award-winning English sparkling wine, which taught me the ins and outs of the winemaking business, and have since returned to writing in a freelance capacity; I now edit Star Wine List, the global guide to restaurants and bars with wine lists worth exploring.
I am available for commissions, tastings and marketing consultancy. Get in touch!
